COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKERS

What are trackers?

Trackers are data used by a server to send information to an internet-user’s browser and used by that browser to send information back to the original server. This information may be a session login, a language, etc. For example, trackers enable data to be collected on the most frequently viewed pages of a web site, to make viewing a web site easier by registering the user’s preferred language etc.

Cookies are a form of tracker which are installed on the user’s terminal (computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when they visit a web site.

Amongst the different types of cookies are those known as «session» cookies which disappear when the user closes the browser or leaves the site and cookies known as «permanent» which remain on the user’s terminal until they expire (i.e. after a maximum of six months with effect from their installation for cookies requiring consent, thirteen months for other types of cookie) or until the user deletes them.

What types of trackers are used when you visit this web site?

Various types of trackers are used when you visit this web site.

Some do not require your consent. These are cookies which are strictly necessary to facilitate browsing on the web site, allowing the retention of information according to what you have seen displayed on the «cookies» information strip whether or not you have consented to the insertion of trackers on your terminal, the management and securing of your authentication on the web site, access to certain on-line services such as the approval of a shopping basket, the measurement of some of the site’s performances to detect browsing problems or the retention of your settings choices.

Other cookies require your consent. These are:

- Functionality cookies which enable:

- The web site to adapt to your terminal’s display preferences (language, currency, display resolution, operating system used, to configure and set the display parameters of the site’s pages according to the terminal you are using and its location, etc.);

- Certain information which you enter on the web site to be memorised in order to facilitate and personalise your future visits (for example the displaying of your surname and forename if you have a personal account and have been identified);

- User experience and performance monitoring cookies which enable the Société d’Aménagement de la station de la Plagne (SAP) to learn about your visits to the web site (the most visited pages, journey through the site, content viewed, applications used, etc.) as well as to process the information collected on third party sites. They enable SAP to produce statistics and make the web site more interesting and ergonomic;

- Advertising cookies which enable:

- Relevant targeted content likely to be of interest to you to be offered to you (e.g. : better offers, other destinations) later on in your browsing, based on your areas of interest and preferences; and in particular, offers on SAP products and services which meet your needs;

- The number of advertisements to be limited

When cookies are refused, advertisements will continue to be displayed but will not be adapted to your fields of interest.

- Affiliate cookies which enable the original third party web site which forwarded you to this web site to be identified;

- Connection cookies, which enable SAP to access your information located on third party accounts if you want to log in quickly through your other accounts (e.g. : Facebook, Google, Apple);

- Social media cookies, to enable you to access SAP pages and to share or like the information on this web site, or conversely to allow the social media sites concerned to follow your browsing on this web site and to take you to SAP pages posted on social media. As SAP does not have control over the uses of the data collected by social media, you are advised to check the latter’s confidentiality polices.

How to accept, refuse or delete trackers?

From your first visit to this web site, then every six months, you are asked to accept the collection and use of cookies. To this end, a window is displayed asking you to accept the collection of cookies or to configure your choice (if you want to modify or refuse all or some of these cookies).

Refusal may reduce the quality of your experience on this web site. SAP will not accept any responsibility for any consequences arising from this refusal, specifically any lack of content matching your browsing and choices being offered.

Otherwise, whatever your choices, you can at any time:

- Modify your parameters in our cookie management tool, exclusively in respect of cookies collected via this web site;

- Have trackers deleted from your terminal via your browser, these choices being applied to all your browsing on the internet.

Most browsers are configured by default to accept the use of all trackers. You can modify the parameters to choose the trackers which you accept, even refuse the use of trackers. This reconfiguration must be carried out on each of your terminals (computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.).

Please note: if your browser is configured to refuse all or some trackers, some functions, pages or areas of this web site may not be accessible or may not deliver the best browsing experience.

The methods of configuring and deleting trackers are different for every browser. These methods are described in your browser’s help menu. Here are the methods of configuring trackers in the best known browsers:

- Internet Explorer : Gestion des cookies sur Internet Explorer ;

- Safari : Gestion des cookies sur Safari ;

- Chrome : Gestion des cookies sur Chrome ;

- Firefox : Gestion des cookies sur Firefox.

Should you choose to delete all the cookies on your terminal via your browser, SAP will no longer hold any information on your configuration choices and will be obliged to ask you to reconfigure your choices when you next visit the web site. This also applies if you use a new browser or a new terminal. As these configurations are entirely managed under the responsibility of the browsers, SAP does not guarantee that they will function correctly.

Configuring the parameters of the browser is not always enough. If you like, you can further refine your parameters by targeting the purposes of each cookie:

- User experience and performance monitoring: For further information on how to block Google Analytics user experience monitoring trackers (and other Google)products, click ici ;

- - Advertisements: This site does not contain any advertising spaces. Accordingly, the information collected is essentially used to offer you suitable advertisements on third party sites you visit on the basis of the information collected through user experience monitoring trackers. At the same time, several advertising business platforms offer you the chance to refuse or accept cookies used by member companies. These centralised mechanisms do not block the display of advertisements but only prevent the installation of cookies which enable advertisements to be adapted to your fields of interest. You can, for example, go to the site Your Online Choices to prevent the installation of these cookies on your terminal. This site is offered by digital advertising businesses belonging to the European association EDAA (European Digital Advertising Alliance) and is managed in France by the Interactive Advertising Bureau France. SAP does not guarantee that this tool is fully effective or operates correctly as it relies on the participation of the advertising industry;

SAP may also offer you connection services offered by social media and some web operators (e.g. : Facebook Connect, Google Connect, Apple Connect) to help you to log in and make purchases. Using this facility if you are already a user enables you to log in to this web site without having to enter personal details by authorising SAP to access this information.

Lastly, there are a number of programmes which may be added to your browser to enable you to block and manage all types of trackers such as Abine or Ghostery.

For further information on cookies and the control of their collection, you can also look at the site of the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL) (National Commission for Digitally Held Data and Freedom of Information) .
