The New Roche de Mio Gondola

Stage 1: Glacier Gondola

The first stage of this project was completed with the construction of the Glaciers gondola lift, connecting Roche de Mio to Live 3000 (which went into service in December 2023). This new, modern installation provides quicker and more comfortable access to the high-altitude areas, while offering an exceptional panoramic experience. It is part of La Plagne’s extensive ski area modernisation programme, aimed at improving skier mobility.

On this gondola lift, you’ll find Aérolive – a one-of-a-kind experience. Aboard a windowless cabin, you’ll be fully immersed in the breathtaking environment of the Northern Alps. Enjoy a 360° panoramic view of iconic peaks such as Mont Blanc and La Grande Casse, all while breathing in the fresh mountain air.

The image shows the mid-station of the Glaciers Gondola in a mountainous landscape during summer or autumn. The modern building, dark-coloured with red elements, sits on dry, earthy ground with no trace of snow. In the background, the mountain slopes are covered with yellowing grass and rocks, forming a gently rolling terrain under soft light. The overall scene conveys a peaceful and somewhat arid atmosphere, typical of alpine resorts outside the winter season.

Advantages for Winter:

Access to the Roche de Mio is new greatly improved. You’ll be able to reach the summit directly from:

  • Plagne Bellecôte via the gondola lift

  • Champagny via the Carella chairlift

  • The summit of Grande Rochette via the Roche de Mio gondola, boarding at the mid-station at the Col de Forcle

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project and get ready for an unforgettable mountain experience!

The picture shows the arrival station for the new Roche de Mio cable car. Metal pylons support the lift cables. In the background, a mountain landscape and a blue sky with a few clouds.

Advantages for Summer:

In summer, the new lift line makes the mountains more accessible to everyone: families with pushchairs, mountain bikers, and visitors accompanied by their favourite dog.

The intermediate station at Col de Forcle becomes a true stopping point, ideal for taking a break and enjoying the panoramic views, or for setting off on a walk. New routes are now accessible, particularly between Grande Rochette and Col de Forcle, offering excellent hiking opportunities.

Development of Col de Forcle

By summer 2027, Col de Forcle will be developed into a high-altitude welcome and discovery area, designed to enhance the visitor experience.

Stay tuned to follow the progress of this project and get ready to enjoy an unforgettable experience!
